What to see

Malaga is in a good location for various day trips along the coast, up to the small mountain villages or to one of the larger Andalucian cities. It is approximately a two hours’ drive from Granada, Córdoba or Seville in a hired car. In Granada, you must not miss the fabulous Moorish palace Alhambra, the Gothic cathedral and the Arab quarters in the Albaicín.

In Córdoba, a walk to the old Jewish quarters and La Mezquita is recommended. In Seville, the capital of Andalucia, you should visit the Santa Cruz and Real Alcázar districts at the heart of the city. Along the entire Costa del Sol it is easy to take the car to most cities such as Fuengirola, Torremolinos and Marbella. Here there are lovely beaches, nice bars and restaurants as well as good opportunities for shopping. Tips for families are Tivoli World in Benalmádena, Aqualand in Torremolinos and Selwo in Estepona.

In Puerto Banús you can view the gigantic luxury yachts, enjoy designer name shopping and mix with the rich and famous at the chic bars on the sea front. There are also yachts, discothèques, bars and restaurants in Puerto Marina in Benalmádena. Ronda is a picturesque town located on a precipitous limestone cliff. Discos, clubs, late-night bars, Torremolinos is a lively resort in every sense of the word. There are plenty of good restaurants and bars offering live music and DJ's in most resorts. Casinos can be found in Hotel Torrequebrada (Benalmadena) and in H10 Andalucia Plaza (Puerto Banus). Marbella and Puerto Banus offer more exclusive venues; head for the famous Golden Mile illuminated with a glittering tiara of star-studded restaurants, discos and night-clubs.

Eating Out

Try, Paella, Ali Oli (garlic mayonnaise), gazpacho (cold, spicy soup), Sangria (wine, liqueur and fruit juice), fresh fish (fried or grilled), seafood, caramel flavoured tortas de aceite of Torremolinos. There is a huge choice of eating spots in all resorts many along the waterfront. Bars and good quality restaurants and cafes can be found in all resorts.

Málaga is a city and a municipality, capital of the Province of Málaga, in the Autonomous Community of Andalusia, Spain. With a population of 568,507 in 2010, it is the second most populous city of Andalusia and the sixth largest in Spain. The southernmost large city in Europe, it lies on the Costa del Sol (Coast of the Sun) of the Mediterranean, about 100 km (62.14 mi) east of the Strait of Gibraltar and about 130 km (80.78 mi) north of Africa.

Málaga enjoys a subtropical–mediterranean climate. It has one of the warmest winters in Europe, with average temperatures of 17 °C (62.6 °F) during the day and 7–8 °C (45–46 °F) at night in the period from December through February. The summer season lasts about eight months, from April to November, although in the remaining four months temperatures sometimes reach around 20 °C (68.0 °F).
